Showcase Kitchens

When John Starck, president of Showcase Kitchens, was spending much of his time traveling to Manhasset and nearby locations for design and installations of kitchens and bathrooms, he decided it was time to move. Although his family can trace its business roots for four generations in the same location in Brooklyn since 1933, it relocated to Manhasset 14 years ago.

Starck says he knows “how to translate client ideas into a stunning design that integrates beauty and function – one that embodies who they are and how they live.” North Shore residents, he believes, are generally passionate about their homes and enjoy collaborating on the design process.  “Since we moved here, he adds, “we have installed thousands of kitchens and bathrooms.” They rely on word-of-mouth recommendations and their business has thrived.

In the recent international Sub-Zero Wolf ‘Best of the Best’ Kitchen Design Contest, Starck was one of 54 winners of 1600 entries; he was the only winner from Long Island. A kitchen and bath designer for more than 25 years, Starck is board-certified and an active member of NKBA and NARI. He has earned over 40 industry awards, either individually or for the company and his kitchen and bath designs have been featured in hundreds of national and regional publications over the years.

Working closely with his father, John Sr., vice president, and his brother Anthony, director of operations, Starck says, “We carry on the same old-fashioned values that enabled my grandfather, ‘Papa Joe,’ to succeed: hard work, integrity, respect, honesty, loyalty and determination.”

Next door they have opened Showcase Baths, a full service, complete supply design firm with tile, stone, plumbing fixtures, bath cabinetry, shower enclosures, lighting and hardware. Showcase Kitchens will soon open a store in Massapequa to replace its Island Park store that was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy.

Starck lives in Manhasset with his wife and three children and says he loves being close to home and being able to coach his sons’ baseball teams and attend his daughter’s volleyball games.

Active in many community charitable organizations, he also serves on the Plandome Heights Architectural Review Board.
Showcase Kitchens is at 1200 Northern Boulevard, Manhasset and open Mon. to Sat. 9 a.m. to – 5 p.m. Tel. (516) 869-8585. The website is and Facebook is Starck’s e-mail is
