Luis Viteri in House Magazine
Luis Viteri, a principal designer at Showcase Kitchens Massapequa is the second Showcase designer to make an appearance in HOUSE Magazine for March April. Luis was awarded this honor for his amazing remodel job on an old Massapequa home:
The small, dark, 1970’s-era kitchen, located in Massapequa had to go. The client knew they wanted a contemporary, open-plan design and loved a mid-century sensibility. They were eager for the team of Luis Viteri and Melissa Sacco to achieve their vision. A major weight-bearing wall was eliminated, necessitating a wide-gauge steel beam allowing for the one large kitchen/dining/living room. Without columns, accommodations were made structurally that added warmth – as in the pitched ceiling detailing. Viteri selected dark elm Italian Cesar cabinets for the kitchen - contemporary design with the warmth of the wood. Complimenting Viteri’s kitchen design was the mid-century lighting schematic and furnishings chosen by the homeowners with Melissa Sacco.

Luis began working with the Starck family in 1987 upon graduation from City College, where he earned a BA degree in studio art. He received in-depth training in theory and practice in the visual arts, which set a foundation in design. According to Luis, his experience includes “any room in the house.” During the course of his career, he has produced a wide range of designs including libraries, mud rooms and kitchens, from contemporary to traditional styles. He enjoys listening to the client’s specific working space needs and designing the specifics to fit those needs, such as cooking hearths, hutches and islands. This knowledgeable designer says he loves “the challenge of scaling these components to a room and designing them so they relate well to one another.”
